My Choquette Avocado Tree – One of My Best Performers

Today I was looking at my Choquette avocado tree, and wow... where has the time gone? It's amazing how fast this tree has grown. Out of all my Florida-type avocados, the Choquette has easily been one of the most vigorous growers.

I purchased this tree back in September 2024 from an online nursery in Florida. It arrived in a 3-gallon pot, and shortly after it arrived, I transplanted it into a 5-gallon container. As you can see in the pictures, it arrived looking healthy, and one thing that really stood out to me was its large, vibrant green leaves. Choquette leaves have a unique look that makes them easy to recognize.

By late November 2024, I decided it was time to plant it in the ground. I chose a spot on my hillside where I had previously grown a pear tree that never did very well. It had poor growth and wasn't very productive, so I figured it was worth giving the Choquette a chance there.

Let me tell you... the Choquette absolutely loved that spot!

The tree gets full sun all day, sits right in the middle of the hill with excellent drainage, and it has become one of the best-performing avocado trees I own. Every time I walk by it, I'm impressed by how much it has grown.

In Spring 2026, the tree flowered for the very first time. As of July 2026, it's holding around 10 avocados, which I'm really excited about. For a tree that was planted less than two years ago, I couldn't be happier.

From everything I've read and seen online, Choquette avocados stay on the tree for about a year before they're ready to harvest. They're also known for producing huge fruit, so I'm really looking forward to tasting my first one. I'll definitely be sharing a taste test when the time comes.
